Etymologia edytuj
- Echinosaura: gr. έχίνος ekhinos „jeż”[5]; σαυρος sauros „jaszczurka”[6].
- Teuchocercus: gr. τευχος teukhos „zbroja, oręż”[7]; κερκος kerkos „ogon”[8]. Gatunek typowy: Teuchocercus keyi Fritts & Smith, 1969.
