Opis

Stema oraşului Târgu Lăpuş, potrivit anexei nr. 1.1, se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, tăiat şi despicat în partea superioară.

în partea dreaptă, în câmp albastru, se află un monument de argint având un vultur cu zborul deschis (aripile deschise), amplasat pe un soclu format din trei blocuri paralelipipedice, descrescătoare ca dimensiuni şi terminat cu două trepte la bază.

în partea stângă, în câmp roşu, se află un taler de argint.

în vârful scutului, în câmp de argint, se află un brâu undat albastru.

Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu trei turnuri crenelate.

Semnificaţiile elementelor însumate

Vulturul reprezintă Monumentul Eroilor şi semnifică masacrul din 5 decembrie 1918.

Talerul face aluzie la denumirea localităţii, Târgu.

Brâul undat reprezintă râul Lăpuş, care străbate localitatea, de unde vine şi denumirea acesteia.

Coroana murală cu trei turnuri crenelate semnifică faptul că localitatea are rangul de oraş.
