W J-rocku często występuje połączenie bardzo wielu gatunków muzycznych. Fani używający tego określenia często mają na myśli zespoły grające także gatunki, niekiedy ze wstawkami z [[Hip-hop (muzyka)|hip-hopu]], czy [[jazz]]u.
