English: London, Chatham and Dover Railway insignia badge on the southern abutment of Blackfriars Railway Bridge in Southwark, London, England. 1864, with initial V for Queen Victoria. Coats of arms of the City of London, City of Rochester, County of Kent (with motto of Kent: Invicta) and Sable, a cross argent between four leopard's faces or, arms of the Benedictine Priory of St Martin at Dover, Kent (Papworth, John Woody, Alphabetical Dictionary of Coats of Arms Belonging to Families in Great Britain and Ireland, Vol.II, London, 1874, p.643). Arms of Robert de Hathbrand, Abbot of St Martin’s Priory, Dover (www.heraldry-wiki.com [1]). The Priory of St. Mary the Virgin and St. Martin of the New Work, or Newark, commonly called Dover Priory, was located just east of what is now Dover Priory railway station, in fact the railway was built on the western part of the site.
