Historia obiektu
Deutsch: Das Wappen ist vom Siegel des Amtes Cloppenburg abgeleitet, welches bis 1838 genutzt wurde. Am 10. Juli 1958 nahm der Landkreis die Symbole als Wappen an. Es wurde am 3. September 1959 vo der Bezirksregierung Oldenburg genehmigt. Die beiden Balken und das Steckkreuz im oberen Teil des Wappens stammen aus dem oldenburgischen Landeswappen; das vormals münstersche Amt Cloppenburg fiel 1803 an das (Groß-)Herzogtum Oldenburg. Im unteren Teil finden sich die Seerosenblätter aus dem Wappen der Grafschaft Tecklenburg, die Ende des 13. Jahrhunderts die Cloppenburg 1296 errichteten und bis 1400 die Landesherrschaft ausübten. Der untere Balken stammt aus dem Wappen des Hochstifts Münster und erinnert an die klerikale Landesherrschaft von 1400 bis 1803.
English: The arms were granted on September 3, 1959. They show the arms of the former rulers of the district. The upper two quarters are derived from the arms of the County of Oldenburg, as the district belonged to Oldenburg from 1803-1946. The water lily leaves in the third quarter are taken from the arms of the County of Tecklenburg, who founded the city of Cloppenburg in 1296. Around 1400 the Prince-Bishopric of Münster acquired the area, and ruled the district until 1803. The arms of Münster are shown in the fourth quarter.
