Newcomb Cleveland Prize

amerykańska nagroda naukowa

Newcomb Cleveland Prize – nagroda naukowa przyznawana corocznie przez American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), autorowi (autorom) wybitnej pracy naukowej opublikowanej w czasopiśmie Science.

Nagroda została ustanowiona w 1923 roku i była fundowana przez Newcomba Clevelanda, który pozostał anonimowy aż do śmierci w 1951 roku. Do tego czasu nagroda nosiła nazwę AAAS Thousand Dollar Prize. Cleveland, uważał, że naukowcy zasługują na uznanie i wsparcie i postanowił przez ufundowanie tej nagrody tego dokonać. Przed 1975 rokiem, od kiedy obowiązują aktualne zasady przyznawania Newcomb Cleveland Prize, trafiała ona do autorów godnych uwagi i o wybitnej wartości naukowej referatów, prezentowanych podczas dorocznego spotkania AAAS[1].

Aktualnym sponsorem nagrody jest Fodor Family Trust i wynosi ona 25 000 dolarów[2].
